NPS MedicineWise

NPS MedicineWise is a not-for-profit organization that does amazing work in the medical field. They have been supporting CALD communities to make informed decisions since 1998. This means they also had a huge legacy code base and a lot of databases that needed synced.

Cazoomi delivered the ideal solution for Dynamics 365 as their CRM and Mailchimp for email automation.

Background

Taking medicine can help improve your health. However, there are potential risks involved in using all medicine, including prescription, over-the-counter, traditional and herbal medicine. These risks can be higher for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, particularly those with low English language proficiency and literacy levels.

This is where NPS MedicineWise comes into play. The Australian, independent, not-for-profit and evidence-based organization works to improve the way health technologies, medicines and medical tests are prescribed and used. It was established in 1998 with the primary aim of promoting quality use of medicine. They have since grown to connect with health consumers and health professionals nationwide by changing attitudes and behaviors and empowering all Australians to make the best possible health care decisions when they count.

Rationale

Before SyncApps, they used a lot of custom coding and in-house developed and supported APIs to ensure connectivity between their website and SQL database (NOT the CRM). There was a separate replication app that took the data from the SQL database to CRM. They also used an external mailing house to deliver their Electronic Direct Marketing (EDMs) via an FTP link based on a dump file that was created each night.

Opportunity

Having Microsoft Dynamics as their CRM and Mailchimp for email automation, they found SyncApps as the best option for this specific integration.

“As we started the implementation, it became clear that we needed “something to join” Mailchimp to CRM to pull our subscribers from the CRM marketing lists and have them in the CRM. Because of the unique way our CRM was configured to handle subscriptions (as a product as opposed to using the subscription model within CRM) the creation, subscribing and unsubscribing is carried out via a process in the CRM with an API link between Mailchimp and the CRM. SyncApps by Cazoomi is used to pull the subscribers from the CRM to Mailchimp; changes are made from Mailchimp to the CRM via our API.” ~ Tony Harrison

With SyncApps’ powerful feature, they were able to remove a large amount of the custom code that was previously employed (and that could no longer be supported or improved). Within the organization, they adopted the principle of off-the-shelf (or out-of-the-box) over customization overbuild.
